Billy Glover

Biography

Billy Glover is one of the more thinly documented designers in the Family Dog catalog. His signed work includes FD-132 ('Aurora'), the poster for the Steppenwolf / Siegel-Schwall / Santana run at the Avalon Ballroom, August 9-11, 1968 -- held today by the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Beyond a handful of late-period Family Dog attributions, little biographical detail about Glover is preserved in the reachable record; he was working at the Avalon in the ballroom scene's last full year, after the founding Mouse/Kelley/Wilson/Moscoso generation had largely moved on.

Why They Matter

A late-Avalon Family Dog poster artist; the FD-132 'Aurora' sheet is his best-documented work, now in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
