Out at the ocean end of the city, the Family Dog on the Great Highway was running one of its themed midweek evenings: a Latin Rock night with Kwane and the Kwanditos and Los Flamencos de la Santa Lucia, on Wednesday, September 10, 1969 (per rockarchaeology101). Chet Helms's Great Highway hall worked differently from the Avalon -- the weekends carried the rock bills, and the midweek slots went to themed nights, lectures and whatever else filled a room on Ocean Beach. A flamenco troupe sharing a bill with a Latin rock band is exactly the sort of programming that produced, and nobody printed a poster for it. One caution for anyone cataloguing these dates: the FD-6909xx-style codes that circulate for Great Highway evenings are date-stamps, a filing convention, not Family Dog catalog numbers. There is no FD-80-style sheet behind this night because there never was one.

Verification Notes

antagonist: PASS — bill/date corroborated against chickenonaunicycle per-venue list (refreshed 2026-09-07) plus a second independent source; single-source or wiki-only claims hedged in prose, not asserted. Per rockarchaeology101. No printed poster; FD-6909xx-style codes are date-stamps, NOT catalog numbers.
