Night two of three. Saturday, September 14, 1968 continued the FD-137 run at the Avalon Ballroom -- John Mayall headlining over Big Mama Mae Thornton and the Hound Dog Band featuring Harmonica George, with Black Pearl opening, on the Wes Wilson and Kurt Strausse "Train Trip" poster, September 13 to 15 (bill and dates per rockposters, wolfgangs and famsf). The opening-night page for September 13 carries the story: Mayall fresh from cutting *Blues from Laurel Canyon* that August with Mick Taylor on guitar, sharing a stage with the woman who first cut "Hound Dog." The Saturday put that same pairing in front of a second crowd, while across town Fillmore West was closing out BG-136.
