Night two at the Straight Theater, and the bill shifted under it. On Saturday, September 16, 1967 the Steve Miller Blues Band were back and Billy Roberts was held over, but Sopwith Camel had dropped off and Notes From the Underground came in (per coau). That kind of overnight substitution is characteristic of the Straight, which was community-run rather than professionally booked and worked its calendar loosely. The same caution as the night before applies: "Hey Joe" on the bill is Roberts's own song, not an act. And the wider Saturday is worth picturing -- the Fillmore closing BG-83, the Avalon at night two of FD-81, the Family Dog running FD-D2 in Denver, and the Haight's own converted cinema holding its end up with no poster at all.

Verification Notes

antagonist: PASS — bill/date corroborated against chickenonaunicycle per-venue list (refreshed 2026-09-07) plus a second independent source; single-source or wiki-only claims hedged in prose, not asserted. Sopwith Camel swapped out from the previous night, Roberts held over. "Hey Joe" is his song on the bill, not an act.
